You can’t really talk about AI without talking about AI in healthcare, and I do truly believe over the long term that healthcare will probably see the most profound impact from the evolution of AI over time across multiple facets of healthcare, whether it’s drug discovery, whether it’s manufacturing, whether it’s patient trial selection. I think the impact will be profound. But I think you have to be very mindful of what stage we’re in in terms of that progress. I think today where we are with what we know about biology, we only really know about 10% to 15% of human biology, and therefore the data that informs the models, it’s just not good enough to fully capture everything we need to know in order to design, develop, and manufacture drugs just using AI. However, AI is today making a very significant impact on the efficiency and the administration within the healthcare system, which is a system that desperately needs that level of efficiency because costs continue to rise and margins are getting squeezed. And so if we look at where AI is actually having an impact on healthcare today, it is actually in managed care—hospitals, facilities—where a lot of the administrative burden actually exists. Additionally, you’re also seeing it in certain areas of imaging and radiology where AI can actually very effectively read images, medical images, and actually interpret them.
